Description
Coffee Beans Brazil Velo
Mario Ferrari and his son Alberto today grow specialty coffee at the farm Fazenda da Serra, as the second generation of coffee producers. Brazil is a country particularly plagued with industrial production of coffee but Mario and Alberto stand out and also take care of the rain forest surrounding their fertile volcanic soils.
The hills on which the coffee grows makes it difficult to pick the cherries so this is all done by hand, as opposed to the industrial farms in Brazil who pick by stripping machines. The hills, however, provide the coffee with more sun hours per day and the hand picking allows for a significantly more careful selection when picking. Together with the shade trees of the surrounding rain forest and the volcanic soil they produce a unique coffee. It is powerful, sweet and creamy as an espresso or a darker filter coffee with low acidity.
